Solving Acne Problem with a Topical Acne Solution

Written by admin on July 1st, 2010

Contrary to what people believe, acne could very well spread to the other parts of the body other than the face.  Acne may occur in the neck, back, arms, and the scalp.  Though it is not fatal, acne can pose serious skin problems afterwards.

A careful consideration should be given prior to the onset of acne outbreaks to prevent it from worsening or spreading towards other areas. Usually, the use of topical acne solutions will serve as your first line of defense.

A topical acne solution is used to thwart the growth of acne and at the same time, stop it from spreading across the body.

Generally, there are two types of topical solutions in the market today.

Over-the-counter medication. This type of topical acne solution is the most common and probably the easiest to obtain. The products are usually seen in TV commercials, which claim to be effective in treating acne. However, the effectiveness of such products varies from person to person depending on the severity of the acne itself.  Over the counter products work by dehydrating any excess oil in the glands causing the acne to dry up and eventually disappear.

Prescription only medication. If the acne continues to spread even after using over-the-counter products, then perhaps you would want to try this instead.  A prescribed typical acne solution is proven effective and yields better results. To do that, you need to be examined by a dermatologist where you will receive prescription drugs, creams or lotions together with specific guidelines. You should probably consider this option should the situation becomes uncontrollable.

You had probably seen websites that provide “online prescription” for acne sufferers. While you can acquire acne treatment products pretty much easily using this way, keep in mind the likelihood of encountering risks when using these products such as developing side-effects. It is not that these products do not work, but it pays to be cautious all the time.

If you are suffering from a severe acne outbreak, it is always best to use prescription drugs from your dermatologist or perhaps ask your friends or colleagues if they knew products that worked for them in the past. Acne is treatable and you do not need to worry unnecessarily.
